There was nobody finer on the mound in July and Arturo Medina cruised to the Sub League 1 Pitcher of the Month award today.
He was 4-1 with a 2.72 ERA while piling up 18 strikeouts in 43 innings and holding opposing hitters to a .241 batting average.
This year Medina has worked 146.2 innings with 69 strikeouts en route to a 10-7 record and a 4.23 ERA.

"It was like I was hitting little league pitching," said Cristián Espinoza after his 5-hit performance against the Farmgirls. "No offense meant to Iowa, but I could see the ball that well. But this wasn't a kid league park, it was Ballpark of Tacoma!"
The St. Paul right fielder had a fantastic day at the plate, knocking out 5 hits in 5 at-bats and pacing his club to a 6-5 victory.
His manager elaborated after the game to the press, saying, "Cristián worked the entire offseason on trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball and the hard work is paying off in base hits."
"That's what I'm trying to do," Espinoza said. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it."
C. Espinoza singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit an RBI double in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Espinoza is hitting .314 so far this season with 42 RBIs and 41 runs scored. He has 97 hits including 5 home runs, 17 walks and .348 OBP.

Today the Smash downed the Kekiongas 9-4 as Henry Bailey sprayed hits all over Ballpark of Tacoma in a 5-hit explosion, finishing up with 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
The St. Paul first baseman said to SION reporters in the postgame interview, "It makes it easier if you get a good pitch. The odds are in your favor then, not the pitcher's. I got a bunch of very pretty pitches to hit today, and I didn't miss any of them."
H. Bailey singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.
This year Bailey is batting .305 with 4 home runs. He has scored 43 runs and driven in 37.
