 | Thomas Collects Cycle Sunday, July 15th, 2029: You might say Mitch Thomas wore out his welcome with the Miami Dealers. The center fielder gave them fits in today's 17-16 St. Paul victory by hitting for the cycle. "To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple, and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Thomas ended the day with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, he said, "After the first three hits, I thought to myself, This could be the game I hit for the cycle. And I got lucky and did it."
M. Thomas struck out in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off B. Adkins in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This season Thomas is hitting at a .345 pace with 5 home runs, 42 RBIs and has scored 37 times. | |
